Paul and Claire Gugenberger
As siblings, creating our own winery has always been a shared dream for us. After our strong experience in the wine industry we found a place to settle: a charming village of Mittelbergheim in the heart of Alsace.
Alsatian ourselves, the choice felt natural. What won our hearts was the terroir of Mittelbergheim: limestone-rich soils are the perfect foundation for the style of wine that we have envisioned: crisp and mineral.
Paired with a generous climate, this exceptional land gives us every reason to look to the future with confidence and excitement.
Claire spent several years working with the DBR group (Château Lafite Rothschild), travelling the world and immersing herself in some of their most iconic wineries across the globe.
Paul, meanwhile, perfected his wine-making craft as cellar master at the renowned Karthäuserhof estate in Germany’s Mosel region, as well as iconic Reichsrat von Buhl in the Pfalz.
Together, we have brought that collective experience back home to Alsace, where our shared passion for terroir-driven winemaking has found its place.
Dry wines only.
Certified organic (bio) viticulture.
Strong emphasis on Sylvaner, alongside classic Alsace varieties.
Two distinct ranges, combining purity, precision, and strong identity.
Vintage 2025 marks the very first release of the estate, and the quality of the year has been exceptional.
The winery is located in the heart of the village of Mittelbergheim. It is composed of a few buildings for agricultural purposes and a listed Historic house in which underground cellar we are making our wines. The estate is composed of 7.5 ha of organic cultivated vines in the close surroundings of Mittelbergheim.
Mittelbergheim's terroir is characterized by the sloping foothills of the Vosges mountains, with the dry, semi-continental climate typical of Alsace. This gives warm summer days and cool nights, along with sufficient rainfall over the winter months. The soil is composed mainly of limestone and marl, sometimes clay-limestone, which gives our wines their precision and longevity.
Our first vintage consists of dry wines, made from the classic grapes of Alsace and grown on the limestone and marl slopes of Mittelbergheim. Sylvaner sits at the heart of what we do, joined by Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer, each vinified separately to let its own terroir speak, alongside Zämme, our field-blend edelzwicker. Every bottle is certified organic, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged gently on its lees — wines made for precision and freshness. All of our wines are dry in order to accompany you in every moment.
